Brunswick 38 'De Stijl Edition' (exclusively for Ace Jewelers)

Dutch creativity meets British refinement

The Brunswick 38 'De Stijl Edition' marks the first collaboration between Fears Watch Company and Ace Jewelers since announcing Ace as Fears exclusive retailer in the Netherlands.

This special collaboration connects Amsterdam to Bristol in a creative partnership that synthesises Dutch creativity with British refinement and has been inspired by the De Stijl art movement that's thus been reinterpreted through geometry and colour.

The Brunswick 38 'De Stijl Edition' can only be purchased directly from Ace Jewelers (and is also available exclusively from our Bristol Boutique).

    CASE

The Brunswick’s elegant 38mm cushion-shaped case has no flat surfaces. The case’s graceful curves are machined from 316L stainless steel, to a level usually reserved for precious metals. The depth of the polish showcases the sophistication of the machinery and the skill of the operator.

The Brunswick 38 is manually wound each day using our bespoke ‘onion’-shaped winding crown, signed with the Fears Cypher. The crown’s fine grooves catch the light, adding a touch of radiance to the edge of the case.

    CASEBACK

The Brunswick 38 'De Stijl Edition' comes an open exhibition caseback - offering an unobstructed view of the finely decorated movement housed inside.

Each caseback is engraved with the individual edition number.

    DIAL

The Brunswick 38 'De Stijl Edition' features a hand-polished white lacquer dial, expertly made in Germany by one of the world’s finest dial makers. After several layers of white lacquer are applied, multiple layers of crisp black, grey, blue, yellow and red ink are applied to bring the De Stijl movement to life.

What appears at first to be purely abstract composition reveals upon closer inspection a subtle logic for telling the time as Fear's Design Manager (Lee Yuen-Rapati) explains:

“While the dial may appear completely abstract, functional elements such as the hour markers can still be found hidden in the corners of each of the black rectangles. The design embodies De Stijl’s ideals of universality within distilled abstraction".

      HANDS

The Brunswick 38 'De Stijl Edition' features iconic ‘Fears’-shaped skeletonised hands expertly made in Germany. The hour and minute hands are painted black to match the indices and the seconds hand is painted white (to match the dial base and provide maximum legibility against the squared sub-dial).

      MOVEMENT

The Brunswick 38 'De Stijl Edition' is powered by a Swiss-made, manual winding La Joux-Perret D100 movement. This movement is the top-grade version, with an extended 50 hour power reserve and finished with Côtes de Genève and blued screws.

      STRAP

The Brunswick 38 'De Stijl Edition' can be fitted with a handmade Raven Black strap crafted from Buffalo leather (sourced from the Himalayas), lending a more sophisticated feel to the watch. This premium leather is some of the strongest and most durable available.

This leather has been tanned in the same way it has been for centuries, using organic materials (and not modern techniques that utilise chemicals). It is not stretched during the tanning process, so is thicker more hard-wearing as a result.

Lined in genuine Alcantara® dyed a deep shade of blue, this lining is supremely soft against the skin yet resistant against wear. This strap is finished with Fears' new bespoke pin buckle (featuring the Fears Cypher).

      INDIVIDUALLY NUMBERED

Each watch we make carries a unique serial number. Engraved between the 20mm lugs at 12 o’clock, this number helps us identify your watch and its history.

      AMOS BOX

All Fears watches are presented in a slim, rectangular, wooden box made of solid ash and stained in our bespoke shade of blue. This luxury box was inspired by traditional slim Fears watch boxes used in the past, in which the watch lies flat. Recognising the company's heritage, we called this box the Amos, after the names of both the 2nd and 3rd Managing Directors.

The top of the box is discreetly engraved with the Fears logo and features a gentle bevel around its edges, whilst the interior is lined in genuine cream suede. The box is secured by a polished chrome push button, keeping your watch safe and secure.
