Archival 1930 ‘Perpétuel Edition’

The Perpétuel Edition.

The Fears Archival 1930 ‘Perpétuel Edition’ is a captivating fusion, bringing together raised, hand-applied numerals with exquisite finishing in an Eastern Arabic type set.

It's an exciting venture, creating something entirely new by combining the British Racing Green of the United Kingdom with Eastern Arabic numerals and acts as a delightful homage to our cherished Middle Eastern partners, Perpétuel.

The watch is available to purchase directly from the Perpétuel Gallery.

  • Case: 40 x 22 mm, stainless steel, brushed and polished, 20mm lug width
  • Dial: British Racing Green colour, with Eastern Arabic appliques
  • Strap: Green, premium barenia calf leather, handmade
  • Movement: ETA 2360, time only, manual winding
  • Water Resistance: 30 metres (3 ATM)
  • Limited Edition: 25 pieces total

The Archival 1930 'Perpétuel Edition' involves a considerable amount of work on new-old-stock movements and hand-finishing and this model is a proportional recreation of an art deco watch Fears made in 1930.

True to the original, each watch features an original vintage movement. With its elegant form it is a perfect luxury rectangular watch for men or women.

CASE

The slim, rectangular case has the same elegant proportions as the original from 1930. The new watch has been increased in size a little while maintaining all the important ratios of the original to suit modern tastes. The case is expertly machined from 316L Stainless Steel, in Germany, to a level usually reserved for precious metals.

This precisely milled case is then finished in a combination of linearly brushed and highly polished surfaces. This long, slim watch sits comfortably on the wrist thanks to its curved profile. Just like the 1930 original, both the crystal and case back have a matching curvature that follows the contours of the wrist perfectly.

The tip of the winding crown, used to wind the watch each day, is deeply engraved with the Fears ‘pipette’ logo.

DIAL

A similar dial layout to our Archive-inspired original, with its distinctive Art Deco design but that blends the timeless British Racing Green with the understated elegance shared by Perpétuel

Expertly made in Germany, the surface of the dial features a delicate vertical brushing, applied by hand, making each dial unique and allowing it to catch the light in a beautiful, subtle way.

The numerals are applied to the dial by hand, after being diamond-polished to a mirror shine and coated in Rhodium and for the first time in Fears history, the numerals are in Eastern Arabic in homage to our Middle-Eastern partners.

HANDS

Expertly milled before being diamond polished, the solid ‘Fears-shaped’ hands feature a central bevel down their length and are coated in polished rhodium. The bevelled edges will catch the light brilliantly, allowing the time to be read easily.

MOVEMENT

The Archival 1930 'Perpétuel Edition' is powered by an original ‘new old stock’ movement that Fears used in the past. The ETA 2360 movements date back to the 1960s and having never been used previously have undergone a full rebuild and reconditioning in the workshop while receiving an upgraded mainspring to improve reliability.

Please note
We expect timekeeping to be within +/-20 seconds a day, in-keeping with the original specification of the movement.

STRAP

The Archival 1930 'Perpétuel Edition' is fitted with a handmade British Racing Green strap crafted from a premium Barenia leather with tonal stitching and fold-over edges that gives this watch an even more luxurious and contemporary feel.

The premium leather used for this strap takes its name from the village of Barr in Alsace, from where it originates. Traditionally used for saddles, this smooth calfskin leather requires a complex tanning process, known by only a small number of craftsmen.

Lined in genuine Alcantara® dyed a deep shade of blue, this lining is supremely soft against the skin yet resistant against wear. This strap is finished with

Fears' new bespoke pin buckle (featuring the Fears Cipher).

Customise

You can customise your Archival 1930 'Perpétuel Edition' with any strap designed for a 20mm lug width, including any strap from our range, which you can easily fit yourself without tools.

INDIVIDUALLY NUMBERED

As with all Fears, each Archival 1930 'Perpétuel Edition' carries a unique serial number. In addition to this each watch is engraved to signify it is the 'Perpetuel Edition' and is numbered individually out of 25.

AMOS BOX

The Archival 1930 'Perpétuel Edition' is presented in a slim, rectangular, wooden box made of solid ash and stained in our bespoke Fears Blue colour. This luxury box was inspired by traditional slim Fears watch boxes used in the past, in which the watch lay flat. Recognising the companies heritage, we called this box the Amos, after the 2nd and 3rd Managing Directors.

The top of the box is discretely engraved with the Fears logo and features a gentle bevel around its edges, whilst the interior is lined in genuine cream suede. The box is secured by a polished chrome push button, keeping your watch safe and secure.

With this being a Fears Limited Edition, it comes with a special outer box and sleeve that match the owners card and are unique to this collaboration.
