Brunswick 40.5 Jump Hour 'watches@ Edition'

The Brunswick 40.5 Jump Hour 'watches@ Edition'

Please note; this model has now sold out.

The watches are scheduled to be ready for delivery in September 2024 (with a celebratory party at Topper Fine Jewelers in Burlingame, California to celebrate the release of the collection).

------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Fears Brunswick watches@ Collection takes inspiration from the Bentley Boys of the 1920s. These gentleman racers gained notoriety for their string of wins in the first decade of the famous Le Mans 24 hour endurance race.

Their dashing good looks, decadent lifestyles were only matched by the powerful image of their Bentley 4 ½ litres painted in an unmistakable shade of British Racing Green. This iconic colour, forever associated with British success on the race track, was coupled with a large ivory circle painted on the sides of each car displaying a large number in black.

This high contrast disc allowed the racing team in the pits to track the timing and progress of each Bentley car taking part in the race, knowing when they needed to come in for refuel, tyre changes and for another of the Bentley Boys to slip into the driver’s seat before roaring out of the pits and onto the next stage of the race.

These striking design cues are carried over to this collection with leather straps matching the thick straps that held the bonnets securely in place during each race. The dials use layouts and numerals reminiscent of the original speedometers, where the needle often touched 100 mph.

This glamorous period in British motorsport has been captured in the three models that make up the collection.

Hand built in Britain.

Graceful and complex, the curvaceous Brunswick silhouette takes its inspiration from a gentleman’s cushion case watch in the Fears archives, first made in 1924.

CASE

The Brunswick 40.5 Jump Hour 'watches@ Edition' features an elegant 40.5mm cushion-shaped case has no flat surfaces. The case’s glancing curves are machined from 316L stainless steel, to a level usually reserved for precious metals. The depth of the polish along with the hand grained finish applied to the top of the case’s corners showcase the sophistication of the machinery and the skill of the operator.

Complementing the case is our bespoke ‘onion’-shaped winding screw down crown, signed with the Fears Cypher. The crown’s fine grooves catch the light, adding a touch of radiance to the edge of the case.

DIAL

The Brunswick 40.5 Jump Hour 'watches@ Edition' features an iconic British Racing Green outer section that contrasts perfectly against an Ivory central section (and minute track) - a colour palette that perfectly encapsulates Fears understated elegance and a nod to our British heritage.

Expertly made, the surface of the dial features a concentric guilloche engraved deeply in the central minute section, with a polished outer section for the chapter ring. Beyond this, the outer dial area has a delicate sunburst finish, pushing outwards towards the edges of the dial. Minimal printing in black and silver ink complements the richness of the dial finishing perfectly.

As this a ‘jump hour’ watch there are no hour numerals on the dial, instead the hour is displayed via a window at 12 o’clock. The disc displaying these numerals is coated in a bright white lacquer before the hours are printed in glossy black ink in Fears bespoke ‘Edwin’ typeface.

The hour window and the chapter ring are surrounded by hand-applied silver rings. Each ring is machined with bevels before being finished by hand with brushed and polished surfaces. These multiple finishes catch the light while mirroring the polished bezel surrounding the crystal.

HANDS

With the hours displayed neatly in a window, only one hand is required for telling the time.

The ‘Fears-shaped’ minute hand includes dual-finishing with half the hand polished to a mirror shine while the other half is frosted with a black painted finish. The combination of this pair of finishing techniques ensure perfect legibility at all angles, even in low light conditions.

MOVEMENT

The Brunswick 40.5 Jump Hour 'watches@ Edition' is powered by a Swiss made, automatic winding JJ01 movement with a module developed in-house by Christopher Ward (which was originally used in the Fears x Christopher Ward Alliance 01 and is now only exclusively supplied for use by Fears).

Powered by a Sellita SW200, this movement is incredibly accurate, having been regulated to Chronometer grade.

STRAPS

The Brunswick 40.5 Jump Hour 'watches@ Edition' will come as a package with two straps included;

Buffalo Leather (Chocolate Brown)

A handmade Chocolate Brown strap crafted from Buffalo leather (sourced from the Himalayas), lending a more sophisticated feel to the watch. This premium leather is some of the strongest and most durable available which makes it perfect for this sportier Brunswick.

This leather has been tanned in the same way it has been for centuries, using organic materials (and not modern techniques that utilise chemicals). It is not stretched during the tanning process, so is thicker more hard-wearing as a result.

Lined in genuine Alcantara® dyed a deep shade of blue, this lining is supremely soft against the skin yet resistant against wear. This strap is finished with Fears' new bespoke pin buckle (featuring the Fears Cipher).

Saville Row Tweed

To commemorate this special collaboration, Fears has procured the last roll of a vintage tweed fabric directly from a Saville Row tailors.

A very limited amount of this material was available and is only enough to satisfy enough straps for this project before being gone forever (and therefore will be unique to this collection and not separately available).

The accompanying tweed strap has premium fold-over edges, brown leather keepers and lined in genuine Alcantara® dyed a deep shade of blue, this lining is supremely soft against the skin yet resistant against wear. This strap is finished with Fears' new bespoke pin buckle (featuring the Fears Cipher).

BRACELET

The Brunswick 40.5 Jump Hour 'watches@ Edition' is also available to purchase with Fears bespoke stainless steel 5-link bracelet.

The bracelet features expertly brushed and polished sold screw links and has a substantial feel while the silky-smooth movement of the links ensure a comfortable fit around the wrist. The bracelet can be micro-adjusted with both the 8mm and 6mm links provided, ensuring a perfect fit.

The bracelet is secured to the wrist using a trigger-release butterfly style clasp with the Bristol flower enamelled discreetly inside the blades.

The Brunswick 38 features a 20 mm lug width and is designed to fit all of the straps in our range. The bracelet can be removed without tools using its quick-release springbars.

INDIVIDUALLY NUMBERED

Each watch we make carries a unique serial number. Engraved between the 20mm lugs at 12 o’clock, this number helps us identify your watch and its history.

CASEBACK

The Brunswick 40.5 Jump Hour 'watches@ Edition' will only be available with option of a subtle closed caseback. Across the collection the casebacks will be individually numbered in the sequence they were sold (so every caseback will be entirely unique).

The method of numbering features the Googol and in homage to the internal Fears name for this project (Project Typo), the three different models in the collection will each have a different misspelt (or mistyped) spelling of 'Edition'.

The caseback engraving text on the Brunswick 40.5 Jump Hour 'watches@ Edition' caseback is EDIT ON (an attempt to type to quickly and missing a letter).

AMOS BOX

All Fears watches are now presented in a slim, rectangular, wooden box made of solid ash and stained in our bespoke Fears Blue colour. This luxury box was inspired by traditional slim Fears watch boxes used in the past, in which the watch lay flat. Recognising the companies heritage, we called this box the Amos, after the 2nd and 3rd Managing Directors.

The top of the box is discretely engraved with the Fears logo and features a gentle bevel around its edges, whilst the interior is lined in genuine cream suede. The box is secured by a polished chrome push button, keeping your watch safe and secure.

With this being a Fears Limited Edition, it comes with a special outer box and sleeve that match the owners card and are unique to this collaboration.

Bespoke Collection Box
