The Sterling Fears watch.

Please Note: this watch sold out quickly at the inaugural British Watchmakers' Day event - if you are interested in a Fears Sterling Silver piece via our Fears Custom Division please email enquiries@fearswatches.com

The Brunswick 38 '1924 Edition' takes its inspiration from this 1924 gentlemen's cushion shaped watch that inspired the modern Brunswick family of watches that launched in 2017. With this being the 100th anniversary it felt right to commemorate it with the first sterling silver cased Fears watch made since the 1920s.

This watch now completes the trifecta of precious metal cases alongside the Brunswick Pt (Platinum) and Brunswick Au (18ct Gold)

Just 10 pieces of these precious watches will be made, each numbered, hallmarked and featuring a dial inspired and influenced by that of the original watch from 1924. Each watch also comes in a special commemorative packaging.

  • Case: 38mm, Sterling Silver (925), polished, 20mm lug width
  • Dial: Sterling white, lacquered finish with black printing
  • Strap: Fears Blue, premium Barenia leather, handmade
  • Movement: LJP D100, time only, manual winding
  • Water Resistance: 100 metres (10 ATM)
  • Limited Edition: 10 pieces only
  • Price: £3,950 (inc. VAT)

Created exclusively for the Alliance of British Watch & Clockmakers British Watchmakers' Day and only available to purchase from the event.

CASE

The Brunswick '1924 Edition' is housed in our elegant 38mm cushion-shaped case and is made from solid Sterling Silver. Crafted entirely from this understated metal, the case’s glancing curves are machined from 925 sterling silver with a deep polish all over, highlighting the beauty of the metal.

The case and the solid caseback each bear hallmarks from the London Assay Office, and, following a Fears tradition, these comprise the initials of the Managing Director when the watch was built (in this case: ‘NBS’ for our (4th) Managing Director, Nicholas Bowman-Scargill).

The Brunswick 38 '1924 Edition' is manually wound each day using a traditional ‘onion’-shaped winding crown, also made from solid Sterling Silver, and into which is set a flawless diamond (which on Fears watches signifies a case made entirely from a precious metal).

DIAL

The Brunswick 38 '1924 Edition' features a hand-polished white lacquer dial, expertly made in Germany by one of the world’s finest dial makers. After the layers of white lacquer are applied, multiple layers of crisp black ink bring the dial to life using a numeral set inspired by the 1924 original.

Down at 6 o’clock is the subsidiary seconds dial, and below it we'd ordinarily print ‘England’ to recognise the fact that every Fears watch is hand built in England (which this watch is of course). However, instead is the same logo from the 1920s printed at the top of dial making this the first watch from Fears' modern-era to have Bristol on the dial.

HANDS

The Brunswick 38 '1924 Edition' features iconic ‘Fears’-shaped hands expertly made in Germany. Skeletonised and finished in blue using physical vapor deposition, the colour of the hands changes from almost black to electric blue in the light.

MOVEMENT

The Brunswick 38 '1924 Edition' is powered by a Swiss-made, manual winding La Joux-Perret D100 movement. This movement is the top-grade version, with an extended 50 hour power reserve and finished with Côtes de Genève and blued screws.

STRAP

The Brunswick 38 '1924 Edition' is fitted with a handmade Fears Blue strap crafted from Barenia leather with tonal stitching and fold-over edges, lending a premium feel to the watch.

The premium leather used for this strap takes its name from the village of Barr in Alsace, from where it originates. Traditionally used for saddles, this smooth calfskin leather requires a complex tanning process, known by only a small number of craftsmen.

The strap is fastened by a bespoke and matching hallmarked sterling silver pin buckle.

Lined in genuine Alcantara® dyed a deep shade of blue, this lining is supremely soft against the skin yet resistant against wear. The Brunswick is designed to fit all of the straps in our range, which you can easily fit yourself without tools.

    INDIVIDUALLY NUMBERED

Each watch we make carries a unique serial number. Engraved between the 20mm lugs at 12 o’clock, this number helps us identify your watch and its history.

These watches also have an edition number, engraved on the caseback, which identifies them as one of a limited production run of just ten watches.

    AMOS BOX

The entire Fears core collection is now presented in a slim, rectangular, wooden box made of solid ash and stained in our bespoke Fears Blue colour. This luxury box was inspired by traditional slim Fears watch boxes used in the past, in which the watch lay flat. Recognising the companies heritage, we called this box the Amos, after the 2nd and 3rd Managing Directors.

The top of the box is discretely engraved with the Fears logo and features a gentle bevel around its edges, whilst the interior is lined in genuine cream suede. The box is magnetically-secured, with a newly-designed push button mechanism, keeping your watch safe and secure.
